UPVC Cladding for Gables, Dormers and Exterior Walls
UPVC cladding is the same idea as a UPVC roofline taken a step further: weatherproof, low-maintenance boards fitted over timber or render on the parts of a house that take the most rain. Across Alloa and Clackmannanshire we fit it most often to dormer cheeks, gable apexes and the upper storey of chalet-style houses, where painted timber boarding has rotted or the render has cracked and started to let water in.
The boards are fixed to treated battens with a ventilated gap behind them, with a breather membrane over the wall and trims at every edge, corner and window. Common Questions About Fascias and Gutters
How do I know if my fascias need replacing?
Look for peeling paint, soft or spongy timber, visible rot, gaps where boards have warped away from the wall, or birds nesting behind the boards. If you can push a screwdriver into the wood easily, the timber has rotted and needs replacing.
How much does it cost to replace fascias and gutters?
It depends on the length of roofline, the access needed, whether soffits and downpipes are included, and whether any rotten timber behind the boards has to be repaired first. Doing fascias, soffits and gutters together is the most cost-effective route. We provide a detailed written quote after inspection.
How often should gutters be cleaned?
At least once a year, ideally in late autumn after the leaves have fallen. Properties near trees may need cleaning twice a year. Regular cleaning prevents blockages that cause overflowing, damp and damage to walls and foundations.

Is UPVC cladding suitable for a whole house?
It is most often used on dormers, gables and upper storeys rather than a full house, because that is where painted timber and render fail first. UPVC cladding is fine for those areas on houses and bungalows. It is not a fire-rated system for flats or high-rise buildings, which need a specialist and a different product.
How long does UPVC cladding last?
Good quality UPVC cladding fitted with a ventilated cavity and the correct trims typically lasts 20 to 30 years with no painting, just an occasional wash. The battens and membrane behind it matter as much as the boards, so we fit those to the same standard as the roofline and cover the job with our written guarantee.
